Okay. This is going to sound really weird.

It seems that a lot of people find your journal in a lot of different ways, many of them in a fairly random fashion. Don't know if you've heard this one before, though:

I saw your user icon in a comment at [livejournal.com profile] feedback and thought it was a picture of me for a minute.

Well, it obviously isn't; and after looking at some of your other pictures, it seems we don't look much alike after all. But that was a freaky moment.

You seem like an interesting person, and we do share some interests. Plus our birthdays are four days apart, so we've got that in common too.

I don't usually friend people randomly, but you're interesting and I'd like to add you. If you'd rather not add me back, that's fine too.

I found you through camwhores, I think you're fun, so I added you.

Oh yeah, and maybe you could add me back. Thanks.

Three things occurred.
1, I read your comment about winters in western PA, and having spent time growing up in Ridgway, remember what they are like
2, Robert Frost wrote one of my favorite poems
3, While my LJ is a boring repository for my thoughts, yours looks as if you write really good things -- so I'm adding you and asking if you'll add me back. I love reading good snippets.

Welcome! Our winters last like...10 months. :^P

What's your favorite poem by Frost?

I remember the winters. I am strange, I enjoyed them. That is one reason why Frost's poem was always remembered.

"Stopping by woods on a snowy evening"

That poem gives the nice imagery of just how peaceful a small town's snow actually is.

Someone once told me, "You're too smart and interesting to love something stupid like Jesus." I said back, "No, but I am much too smart and interesting to waste my time on the rude and religiously bigoted."

How wonderfully clever. ^_^

I love snowy woods, since I live in the woods, so it works out. :^)

What was funnier was that the person wrote it as, "YOUR too smart and interesting to love something stupid like Jesus." I wanted to make an attack on their grammar, but I was nice. :^)

Without looking at the hundred of other comments to your posting, but after reading your info I have added you. A set of steak knives is not included.

However I have a questioning nature, an unruly searching gene deep in my psyche which refuses to stop looking. probably be better if it did - but the answer to EVERYTHING if it is not 42 seems to be as easy to catch as a slippery strand of spagetti which ahs mated with a very cunning weasel. ~cough~ Errr perhaps I wander a bit.

Anyhow looks like you have many friends already, but one more should break the camel's.....or perhaps one more would NOT break the ferret's back...

Oh, all those comments are mostly just, "Hey, I think you're cool, I'm adding you!" and me saying, "Okay!" so they're not much to look at!

What's wrong with being questioning? I'd be a little wary of people who DON'T ask questions, who are never curious.

I discovered your existence through, of all things, [livejournal.com profile] robont's 12 Babes of Christmas thing. Interestingly enough, I've visited dozens of journals after seeing an arresting picture there, but only once or twice have I added one to my watchlist till now. I thought I'd make an exception here, if you don't mind, because you appear to be that rarity: a well-written Livejournaler who seems to have interesting things to say.

(The lovely pictures of you here there and everywhere are just a pleasant bonus. Really).

Also, because you created this entry with poetry in mind, I'll reply in kind:

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.

-- T.S. Eliot

cheers,
Phil

Hola - one common friend, three (un)common interests. Trying to stock my friends list with thinkers and weed out the perpetually distraught navel gazers. Mind if I add you?

Peace
